Lama Dechen Yeshe Wangmo
Sangha Journeys, Founder & Pilgrimage Leader
I encountered Vajrayana Buddhism through meeting the 16th Karmapa and Kalu Rinpoche in Canada in the late seventies. In the eighties, I completed the first three-year retreat in the USA and trained with Kalu Rinpoche as a translator. I also met His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche and Thinley Norbu Rinpoche in the early eighties in New York City and in 1986, I met Repkong Lama Tsedrup Tharchin Rinpoche who later enthroned me as a lama and lineage holder of the Dudjom Dakini Heart Essence.
I founded Jnanasukha Foundation in 2002. Eight years later, through my karmic connection with Tsogyal Latso, the birthplace of Yeshe Tsogyal in Tibet, I accepted the responsibility to help the nuns in preserving this sacred site. In 2015, I expanded the Foundation to include humanitarian projects, grants and scholarships. In 2016, I created the Vajrayana World blog site, The Tsogyal Center for online learning and practice and Sangha Journeys for pilgrimages to Tibet.
Road to Tibet Travel, Founder
I was born in Amdo into a nomadic family. Somehow I was able to study Tibetan, English and some Chinese. Before becoming a tour guide for seven years, I was a translator in Eastern Tibet and taught English.
Today, I live and work in Lhasa with my family and run my company, Road to Tibet Travel. In 2016, 2017 and 2018 Trip Advisor awarded us their highly prized Certificate of Excellence.
My philosophy in life is that sharing Tibet with others creates happiness and a better world. I'm honored to be part of Sangha Journeys.
